Welcome to Florida



 

State in the extreme SE United States. A long, low peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Florida is bordered by Georgia and Alabama.

Tourism plays a primary role in the state's economy; in 1996 visitors to Florida spent over $48 billion. Walt Disney World, a massive cluster of theme parks near Orlando that is one of the world's leading tourist attractions; Universal Studios, a combination theme park and film and television production facility, also near Orlando; and other attractions draw millions yearly.
Famed beaches, such as those at Miami Beach , Daytona Beach , and Fort Lauderdale , attract hordes of vacationers. With more than 4,000 sq mi (10,360 sq km) of inland water and with the sea readily accessible from almost anywhere in the state, Florida is a fishing paradise. Other attractions include Everglades National Park, with its unusual plant and animal life; Palm Beach , with its palatial estates; and Sanibel Island's picturesque resorts.

Famous for its citrus fruits, Florida leads the nation in the production of oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, and market-ready corn and tomatoes. Other important crops include sugarcane and many varieties of winter vegetables. Cattle and dairy products are important, as is commercial fishing, with the catch including crabs, lobsters, and shrimp.

We have more golf courses per square mile than almost anywhere in the United States, so there is no problem finding a place to play.

Fishing

For the fisherman our area offers a multitude of lakes where freshwater bass are plentiful and will test your angling skills. For those who enjoy the big fish, there is incredible deep sea fishing boats leaving out of various marinas in the county.

Diving

For scuba divers, the reefs off of Palm Beach County offer incredible coral and marine life for your viewing pleasure with the safety of guided drift dive operations. For a little more adventure there are deep water ship wrecks that are also accessible. For a relaxed dive environment where you can view unbelievable sea life in less than 40 feet water depth with no current, it is only a short drive to Key Largo where this diving is a reality. If you don't feel comfortable breathing from a tank of air, don't worry. The snorkeling in South Florida is exciting as well. It is a different world under the ocean; we invite you to experience it!

Tennis

For Tennis enthusiasts, there is 12 month per year play and plenty of courts. From hydrogrid clay to concrete to grass, our area has tremendous tennis. The professional circuit stops in Palm Beach County every year in Delray Beach, so you can see the best players in the world perform.

Equestrian

Wellington in Western Palm Beach County is home to the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). The best riders in the world come here every winter to compete with their incredibly powerful and graceful animals. Many communities in our area are built with the horse enthusiast in mind and offer trails and workout facilities for the riders.

Wildlife

Did someone mention nature? South Florida is home to some of the most beautiful bird species in the world. These magnificent creatures are members of the Heron, Stork, Egret families and are joined by many other fishing birds like the Osprey, the Kingfisher,  and the Red Tailed Hawk. South Florida is also home to our National Bird, the Bald Eagle.

Shopping & Dining

What about shopping? We lets talk about Palm Beach...Worth Avenue..need we say more? But there is more. City Place in West Palm Beach, The Gardens Mall, Downtown at the Gardens, PGA Commons and Midtown in Palm Beach Gardens offer shopping and dining that is second to none. For outlet shoppers its as short ride to Sawgrass Mills, one of the largest shopping facilities in the country. Lets not forget about flea markets, Sample Road is also a short drive from Palm Beach County. And since we brought up dining what about dinner overlooking Jupiter Inlet and watching the boats come in from the Atlantic? Or brunch at Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach Shores watching the boating activity off Peanut Island?

Convienence

Perfect weather, activities for everyone of every age, and the natural tropical beauty of South Florida; that's what Palm Beach County is all about. We are also within 90 minutes of 3 major airports so getting to other parts of the world is not a problem. Interstate 95 and 75 as well as the Florida Turnpike allow access to all of Florida's attractions. Disney World is just over a two hour drive from Palm Beach County. Miami offers numerous attractions including the Aquarium, the Miami Zoo, the Parrot Jungle, the Monkey Jungle, Butterfly World in Coral Springs. Lion Country Safari is just west of the West Palm Beach area.

Professional Sports

So you think if you move south you will leave behind the excitement of professional sports? Think again! The Miami, Tampa, and Jacksonville areas all feature access to NFL football while Miami and Tampa also showcase professional baseball and the National Hockey league. Miami and Orlando have exciting National Basketball Association Franchises. By the way, Florida is synonomous with spring training in baseball so every February you can see all the major league teams get ready for their World Series run!

The enthusiasm in not limited to the professionals, Florida has some of the greatest college sports fans in the country. Whether its the Gators, Hurricane or Seminoles, these fans love their teams! For you bowl fans out there, Florida hosts a large number of the "second season" in college football.
